Mountain lion sighted today, Jan 8, in the woods of Highstead Arboretum. Big, beautiful animal. Sbmitted by: Bob
July 9, 2011, about 4 pm – I observed a mountain lion walking through woods at the back and side of my house on Gallows Hill Road in Redding, CT. It was carrying a small black object in its mouth. It was quite large, with that sort of lumbering big cat way of moving. A tan color with some white spots/markings on its right rear flank. The tail was very long and a bit bushy. My vantage point was from a second floor window, looking down and out; I watched it approaching for quite a wile, as it walked through the woods toward my house. It was quite stunning. I was in awe and tried very hard to be observant and note details.
Three of us witnessed a large cat (size of a Labrador retriever) with long thick tail, grayish tan in color walking along the bank of a swampy pond last night. Location is near Redding, Topstone Park. The same or similar cat has also been seen in the same area two other times in the past three years by other adults who are confident that it was too large for a bobcat & had a ropey tail. Recommend folks also contact: EasternCougar@fws.gov with their sightings.
