On the morning of February 29, 2012, about 7:30 AM, our dog raised a ruckus, barking out the front window. To see what had excited her, I went to the window and saw a lone mountain lion, tawny in color and with it’s distinctively long tail and feline walk, saunter down Falls Drive in front of our house.
I live in the woods between Northampton MA and Williamsburg. A tawny wildcat stepped briefly out of our forest edge this morning– no spots, maybe 24 inches at the shoulder, about twice the height of a large fox, but heavier, longer. When I looked through web images, it looked most like a cougar in size, color, and outline. Ten strides and it was gone.
