Mountain Lion Sighting in Bloomfield, CT.
On the morning of February 20, 2012, at 6:30 AM, I was heading West on Route 185, approaching the intersection of 185 and route 218 in Bloomfield. I noticed a large shape quickly crossing the road about 50 feet ahead of my vehicle. As I got closer, I saw a mountain lion crossing the road from the left side about where 185 turns into multiple lanes 100 feet or so before the intersection. The mountain lion jumped into the woods on the south side of the road; it is possible that the first shape I saw was something it was chasing or another lion.
I have seen bobcats in the area before so I am sure that this was not a bobcat. At first I thought this was a small deer until I got a better view of the animal. It was tan in color, about the size of a very large dog, with a long tail. Any doubts that there are mountain lions in Connecticut are erased, at least for me and the other drivers in the area that may have seen this one.

I definitely saw a mountain lion on my way to the airport several weeks ago in the East Granby/Windsor Locks area. It too was the size of large dog but had a long tail and was tan…It was on the side of the road on Rte. 20. I know what a bobcat looks like and this was not that- it was a lion…
