Yesterday (8/18/11) around 7 pm, I opened my garage door getting ready to leave. Standing near the brush toward the end of my lawn was a wild cat. I’d estimate that he stood about 18-24 inches at the shoulders, with brownish fur. He stared at me with his tail slowly swaying back and forth. I was able to get a picture on my iPhone camera, which I will send along shortly. Originally, I was convinced it was a bobcat, as I’ve seen one at least once before at my house. But as I was describing it to others, I realized that the tail was not the typical 6 inches and bobbed of a bobcat, but probably a full 12-14 inches long and relatively narrow. Could this have been a juvenile cougar?
