Possible Mountain Lion Sighting - Thompson
I believe I saw a Mountain Lion crossing West Thompson Rd in Thompson this afternoon while motorcycle riding. I noticed what I thougt to be a very large Cat, about as big as a medium sized dog, crossing the street about 75 yards in front of me. I slowed down to look at it as I approached where it had crossed, and that's when I noticed it standing on a stone wall that headed into the woods. It stopped breifly to look at me and then I saw it jump of the wall and dissapeared. I swore to my family this evening that it looked like a mountain lion, however I really didn't think that was possible in this area. However after seeing the other sightings in very close proximity to where this happened, now I'm not so sure. Thanks.

Not a Mountain lion. Bobcats are the size of medium sized dogs, Mountain lions are much larger then most any dog breed. They are 7-8 ft in length and over 150 lbs.

May not have been a mountain lion, but it certainly wasn’t a bobcat, it had a long curling tail. I also highly doubt that mountain lions are born 7-8 feet in length, leaving one to reason whatever it was might not have been full grown. Given many experts say this animal is no longer in existance in CT, I still am full of doubt that what I saw was a mountain lion, but it was the closest thing I could find. When I saw there have been several other supposed sighting in that same Thompson Dam area, I figured I’d share.
