I was driving to old colchester road via Bloomingdale Rd, past the Quaker hill elementary school. It was just before 7am, and I saw what looked like a large cat run across the rd about 100 feet in front of me. As I drove closer, I saw that the animal was still climbing the rather steep, wooded incline right off the road, so I stopped to get a look at it, and to my astonishment it was a cougar/ mountain lion. I stared at it for about 15-20 seconds and then it continued up the steep hill. It was larger than an young cougar, but smaller than grown adult cougars I’ve seen at the zoo, so I imagine it might have been an adolescent.
