Mountain Lion Suffield April 13th
Was raking leaves and saw what I think was a mountain lion.
It was daytime, and he was 35 feet away in the woods. No Tail and about 50-60lbs and as tall as a Lab. Could definitely tell he was a male from 35 feet!. We have a lot of animals, but this is the first time I have seen a cat of this size.

I think you saw a bobcat. The “no tail” and 50 lbs gives it away

A mountain lion would have to weigh 50 lbs. at some point before it could weigh 150 lbs! But “Jen” is right. If it’s got a stub for a tail, it’s probably a bobcat. The difference between a bobcat and a mountain lion is actually huge. Mountain lions, cougars, pumas, etc. are very large cats with long tails. Full grown bobcats are generally only twice the size of a large housecat, not 10 to 20x the size.
