Cougar/Mountain Lion in Sherman/ New Milford

Two years ago I saw a Mountain Lion / Cougar on Rte 37 in Sherman. It was fawn-colored, TALL, too tall to be anything else, long tail, jumped the road in two leaps, amazing to see... I was so surprised that I emergency-stopped the car on the side of the road... just in time to see two babies go across the road.
Last fall, I was riding my horse in New Milford, CT and my horse was acting funny... as we came around the corner, lying on the side of the road, a fawn-colored, long-tailed cat (I was pretty sure it was similar-looking). It was just lying there but it was watching us. So I very slowly backed my horse back up the road...
I am not an animal expert but I can tell you that the animals looked identical to each other and the sightings were less than 10 miles away from each other.
