Mountain Lion in Farmington
My sister and I went for a run 12/25 at about 4 O'Clock in the Hillstead Museum trails. During our run my sister said she saw what looked to be a black dog run across the trail some ways ahead of us and up a hill. I didn't see anything and thought nothing of it until today, 12/26. We were near Overhill trail. We rounded a corner and I saw what looked to be a large black dog sitting where the trail meets the woods about 150 ft away. I kept running toward it while at the same time looking around for the dog's owner. As I got closer to the dog, that was staring right at me and not moving, I realized that it was not black at all, but golden brown and had the face of a cat. Right as I realized this it turned and jumped into the woods. This whole event took no more than three second maybe two. I stopped and my sister nearly ran into me. I asked her if she had seen it. She denies having seen the cat, but says she was looking down watching out for snow covered ice (it was snowing). We instantly turned around and started running back. We took the long way back, not thinking much about the mountain lion. About 15 minutes later and about 6 minutes from my house we heard something off in the woods. Actually, my sister heard it first and stopped. We looked around then continued up the hill. About 45 seconds later we clearly heard the mountain lion growl. We would hear it 3 more times before we had reached our house. We were practically sprinting up the last hill to the house.
