West Simsbury sighting?

I may have seen a mountain lion crossing Route 309 in West Simsbury near the Old Farms intersection at 8:45pm tonight. Caught it in my motorcycle headlight. Thought it was odd to see a very big dog cross the road at night all alone with no owner. Was tawny colored, short haired and had a skinny drooping tail -maybe two feet - not really that long. Looked like Marmaduke the cartoon dog. Very big. Moved quickly across the street - sort of on his toes with his head up.
