Devil
While hiking with my family on August 7, around 5:30pm, I noticed a large, sandy colored animal (no spots) about 30-50 yards in the woods off the trail. We were maybe 1/8 of a mile from the parking area. It stopped walking and looked over at us several times. I thought I noticed a little white fur at the tips of its ears, but not positive about that. The cat seemed interested in us for about 10 seconds, then looked away, squatted as if to poop, then walked casually away after looking over once more, and then in the opposite direction. I was telling my boys it was a bobcat, since I did not think it could be a mountain lion in CT, but as it walked away, I noticed it had a very long tail. I would estimate it's height at it's head to be about up to my waist. Submitted by :SMA

Interesting! Were you parked at the main lot- Pent Rd? Estimates on tail length?

Correct. We were parked at the Pent Rd lot. Tail was long; I’d say 2/3 the length of it’s entire body.

Thanks for reply. How exciting for you and your children. If you look back on this site, there is a post of a possible sighting in June in Easton, CT (close to RT 58) and there is now a recent post of possible sighting in New Canaan. Also heard of recent possible sighting near Vista NY-which is close to Fairfield County CT.
