  1. What you saw was a Bobcat. Still totally cool.

    • I guess I forgot to include the long tail with slight up curl at the end. I went to the Nat. Geo. web and looked up mountain lion and that is what I say, hard to believe but I stand by that.

  2. Two years ago, while running on the Rails to Trails from the Bolton Notch area adjacent to Rte 6, I observed what at first appeared to look like a fawn colored Greyhound dog. (Not too uncommon for trail enthusiasts to let their pets off leash.) However, it just stood there, content but poised with its atention on the wood line. When it turned its head briefly, I could clearly see cat like features. This animal was easilly the size of a full grown canine. Before it leaped away, I saw its long, slender, black tipped tail making brief contact with the ground like a bull whip. When I actually walked past its last observed location, I heard absolutely no sound from anything further in the wood line. Half expecting the clumsy, uneven ground manipulations a dog would make, I heard nothing. I have twelve years experience as a local Animal Control Officer. This was no Bobcat friend.
