Mountain Lion Sighting
I entered route 395 South on August 17, 2016 at about 0400 from exit 98 and I noticed an animal resembling a large cat trotting North in the median in the area of the West Thompson Road overpass. The Cat was about 2-3 feet tall and about 3-4 feet long, minus the tail. It had a long tail that curled up, long legs and a lean body. It was bigger, taller and longer, than my late yellow lab that weighed 70 pounds. It was light brown/tan in color and it was not at all affected by my truck or the head lights, it just kept trotting along the side of the turnpike in the median heading North. A few weeks ago we saw what we thought was one in our yard and shrugged it off thinking it couldn’t have been a mountain lion. Then last night we were awoken to these horrible screeches, it sounded like a baby crying. When I researched the sounds I am now convinced it was a mountain lion. We live on the Thompson / Putnam line right near the exit you saw the cat! Incredible. Needless to say we have put out all of the game cameras.
