Mountain Lion Sighting - Sherman/New Milford CT
1999 - At 5am I was driving down Bullymuck Road in New Milford, CT when I saw movement in the road up ahead. I assumed there were racoons crossing the road. Much to my surprise I came upon 3, yes 3, mountain lions within 2 feet of my headlights. They were as surprised as I was. They did not scoot off right away as I think they were shocked and surprised by the headlights. I stopped and watched them for at least 15 seconds as they mingled in and out of each other and scurried off into the woods.
June, 2012 - Driving up Hubble Mountain Road in Sherman, within a quarter mile of the mountain lion sighting of 1999, a wolf crossed the road in front of my car. My daughter saw it first and we pulled over to watch it. I am certain it was a wolf. It looked like a german shepherd at first, but as it crossed the road and was headed up into the woods it stopped and looked directly at us, it was within 12 feet of us. It was then I realized it was a wolf and not a dog....in hindsight, I realized that this animal moved differently from a dog and the shape of its head and position and shape of its eyes were very distinctive to that of a wolf. It was also larger than a german shepherd. I know what I saw!
August 19, 2012 - My husband and daughter were coming up Hubble Mountain Road in Sherman headed toward Bullymuck Road. Much to their surprise a black bear crossed the road in front of the car and headed into the woods. This was about 6:30pm.
August 29, 2012 - My husband and daughter saw a mountain lion at the intersection of Hubble Mountain Road and Bullymuck Road at 6:30am while waiting for the school bus. It was in no hurry as it crossed the road and trotted into the woods.
Over the years we have witnessed, coyote, fox, deer, bear, mountain lions, and wild turkey. I would say that there is plenty of wildlife activity in the New Milford/Sherman, CT area that I don't ever hear anyone talk about.

In our neighborhood in Ashford Ct; a mountain lion has been see by a lot of our neighbors. I took pictures about a month ago of tracks. Well today my husband was up in back in the hayfield splitting wood and he saw the cat. Long tail, long legs, rounded ears. The lion and Rob stared at eack other for 2 minutes and cat walked off into the woods heading to Hnath Rd where he or she has been seen often. Of course he had no camera. There have been to many sightings in the immediate area for it not to be true. A XDEP officer said no way! They don’t live in this part of the country. Its hard to get a picture. We all have to carry our cameras with us!!

I was speaking to a neighbor last night about her son jogging in the vicinity it Hubble Mountain Road and Bullymuckthe Road. Her son went slightly off the beaten path and jogged into the woods. He happened upon two mountain lion cubs feeding on a deer. He stopped short, looked around but didn’t see the momma mountain lion. He about faced and got out of there as quickly as he could. Proof the muntain lion exists here in CT and definitely are reproducing in our own backyards!

I know the jogger and have spent, and am still spending, a lot of time in those woods hunting (camera) for her. I have seen lots of deer, turkeys, and coyotes in addition to the wolf once but no luck yet. I haven’t given up. I did see potential Bobcat tracks in the snow the other day though. By the way, my neighbor also saw the wolf a few weeks ago.

September 22, 2012 - I saw that wolf today. It was about 60 yards away in a heavily wooded area moving with that steady gait. I had my camera as I was positioned for something else but never had a chance at a pic. I only saw it for about 4 seconds.

When I tell people they think I’ve mistaken a coyote for the wolf. The wolf is distinctive, the gait as you mention, is unmistakable. Once you see one, yo know it. The eyes are positioned differently, there’s no mistake. Thank you for validating me!

I work with a guy that lives in Morris. He has seen mountain lion in that town. He has also mentioned seeing wolves. I think it is only a matter of time that mountain lions are excepted as living in Connecticut like black bears are now.

Coburn rd E in Sherman - Woke up to the screeching of a mountain lion at 5:30 am this morning. It was a horrific screech that was called over and over again. At first it sounded like a woman screaming. Paw prints show it coming out of the woods behind our house, crossing our fenced yard and crossing the street.

ROUTE 395 GOING SOUTH BOUND , AROUND AN EXIT ON THE CONNETICUT SIDE ,HEADED TO DANIELSON , A COUGER RAN ACROSS THE TRAFFIC AND JUMPED STRIGHT UP A CLIFF ON THE OTHERSIDE OF THE RD.,STRAIGHT UP AS IF IT COULD DEFY GRAVITY.. WE SAW THE WHOLE THING,,, AND IT WAS A DREAM COME TRUE. I HAD WOLVES GROWING UP IN CONNETICUT,,BUT I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED EVERY KIND OF CAT. I HELD A BOB CAT ONCE TOO, MY DREAM IS TO WATCH THESE COUGARS… I WOULDNT WANT TO DISTURB THEM. THIS WAS AROUND OCTOBER 2012…. IT WAS A TAN COUGAR…VERY THICK TAIL TOO. IT WAS BIGGER THAN A LARGE DOG..AND IT DID WHAT TIGGERS DO BEST,,LOL BOUNCED!!

Saw it, yup! Sunday April 13 driving down Green Pond Road, Sherman CT. Wife also saw it, bigger and more powerful looking than a Bobcat but smaller than what I envision a Mountain Lion to be, hey, never saw one! But it wasn’t a kitty Cat, thats for sure! It was being hassled by two crows, it ran right in front of my car. The mysterious cat creature does exist, probably an abnormally huge Bobcat, dont believe there to be mountain lions, geez louise!

September 20th 2014 8:20ish am Sunny Valley Road, New Milford - My rabbits started screaming bloody murder, looked out of my second story bedroom window to see a large cat with a long tail looking into my rabbit cage. The cage is off the ground 32 inches. Its head was level with the bottom of the cage. The cat had a mottled tan and dark brown coat, rounded dark ears from the back, it never faced me even when I chased it off. It made it out of the yard in two leaps, I looked to see if it was in the neighbors yard but it was no where to be seen.
I have also seen large cat prints in the snow on the Housatonic Range Trail last winter. I thought they were very large for a bob cat.
