Mountain Lion sighting
Today 8/20/12 @ approximately 5:00pm I was stopped in my car on Wauregan/Maynard Road across from Liepis Rd. on the Brooklyn/Canterbury town line and saw a mountain lion saunter about 20 ft. in front of my car. As soon as it finished crossing, I put my car in gear and rolled up to where it crossed, just in time to see it go over a stone wall into the woods. I would give it an approximate weight of 35-40 lbs.

Mountain lions are over 100 lbs. 100-150lbs. This was most likely a bob cat.

The tail is the key. 200 pound mountain lions weigh 40 pounds on there way to 200 as they grow from kittens.

Yes baby mountain lion saunter across the road with no parents in sight? really not believable. The chance of one being in Connecticut is extremely unlikely now you have a family of Mountain lions living in that area?

So, let me get this straight. You think mountain lions are born at about 40lbs and you also think there are mountain lions in the Connecticut wild in but that they all walked here from the west?
Sounds like you don’t believe there are mountain lions here. It takes quite a while for a lion to reach 40lbs. Adult mountain lions can range from 50 to 200lbs. It depends on a lot of factors, just like human size does.

35 to 40lb mountain lions are still with there parents. Not yet 12 months old. this is most likely a dog or a bobcat sighting.

Um my name is Joel I was on water st. today in Canterbury and I seen the Mountain Lion it was about 80 to 100 lbs bigger then my golden retriever NOT A BOB CAT almost hit it with my car Im still all wound up this happened at 5:20 pm on 6/17/2013 I stopped and it stoped in the wood line while I was fumbeling for my cell to take a pic it took off !
