I Saw A Mountain Lion/New Milford
It was just about dusk May 25th, 2013 when our dog started going crazy barking out our sliding glass doors when my daughter , who was sitting at a table near the doors looked out and saw, what at first she thought was a deer...because of its coloring...yet quickly realized it was not ! She also thought it may be a large dog but in amazement recognized it as a cat...a very very large cat !!! My husband ran to the doors and saw it also...it was a mountain lion...no doubt !!! The mountain lion was crossing the hill right behind our house and was only about 25 feet away and clearly visible ! On our property which is sloped and quite wooded , we have a few boulders...one in particular that is very large and has cavities in it. On the side of this very large boulder runs a small stream. We also have quite a few deer that frequent our property, along a route, the mountain lion seemed to have been following. Its weight was probably somewhere around 150 or more lbs, as it was as large, if not larger than our dog ! Was a bit worrisome as we allways let our dog out when she needs to relieve herself...plus this is a family neighborhood and there are children who play outside. Going to let my neighbors become aware of this just for their animal and childrens safety. Called the New Milford police general phone number, but was told...they don,t really do anything about these sightings. This took place in New Milford on Bullymuck Road near the New Milford Sherman border. Submitted by: Karen Miltenberger

I wonder if it was the same one I saw last night, May 28, 2013, in Woodbury. I was sitting in my office at dusk and something moving across the front lawn caught my eye. At first I thought it was a bobcat, we’ve seen them before, but when I looked closer, it was brown and had a tail and the size of a large dog. It was a a mountain lion.
