Mountain Lion seen in Southington, CT on 8-19-15
At approximately 5:30 on 8-19-15 I watched a huge mountain lion walk through my backyard in Plantsville, CT. I was looking out my kitchen window to peek at my husband and two year old son playing in the yard, and to my surprise, this animal walked across the backyard and under my son's swing set! I panicked and ran downstairs to warn them to get in the house, so I couldn't take the time to snap a picture, but it was easy to identify once I compared pictures online. I have seen bobcats before and I knew immediately that this wasn't a bobcat. It was the size of a Labrador retriever with a long tail and looked like a female lion. It looked like it was about 80-100 pounds. It had a solid color coat- no spots. Thankfully my son was not running in the yard! He may have been attacked. A month ago there was a siting of a 350 pound black bear on the property directly across the street from me. I never thought I would seriously say, "Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!"

Came across this website while doing research after seeing a mountain lion on August 28, 2015. I was driving east on Tanglewood Drive in Southington. It leaped across the road from woods on the left to woods on the right. I wish I had gotten a picture but it was to fast. It was beautiful. Dark tan color, long tail. Tail seemed darker almost black towards the end. My guess is 40 -50 lbs. We did see footprints several times in driveway last winter that I thought were a bobcats. This cat crossing the road was not a bobcat.
