In our yard

Saturday (two days ago) one of our chickens was killed by something (we assumed a hawk) all that was left as evidence was feathers, a lot of feathers, not a trace of blood, nothing, just lots of feathers.. It was the middle of the day, broad daylight and on our front lawn, feet from the front door. Not what we have ever experienced in the past when losing a chicken to a predator.

Earlier today 10/05/2015 Monday about 2;30 this afternoon, my husband was working in our wooded (partially heavily wooded) yard and dropped a heavy piece of metal - immediately "something" ran quickly from the spot where he had dropped the item, toward the edge of the yard (abutting the neighbor's property). This was about four feet from where my husband was standing and when he looked to see what it was he saw the large cat, long tail, the eyes, etc and said "that's a damned cougar". The spot where the mountain lion had been laying is about fifteen - twenty feet from our children's playscape. My husband is not the type to spot "Bigfoot" or whatever, is afraid of nothing (including this cat, he thinks it's cool). He knows absolutely 100% what he saw, and it is a mountain lion. The cat was tawny with whitish "cheeks" with black accents. It weighed around 125 - 150 pounds and was about the size of a German Shepherd dog. The animal pulled it's ears back and stared at my husband, absent of any appearance of fear. Husband slowly backed away and got into his van that was parked nearby. This was right at the edge of our driveway.
