Mountain lion (?) Bugbee woods, West Hartford
In 2008, my daughter (who has an obsessive knowledge of wildlife in the area) saw a single very large, tan cat-like animal with a long tail at the edge of the Bugbee woods near Bugbee school in West Hartford. This was during the school day. She was about ten at the time. She said that it was much larger than the bobcats we have seen in our area and did not have the characteristic tufted ears that the bobcats have. She was sure that it was a mountain lion. We have many deer in our area, along with coyotes and bobcats, traveling through a greenway that traverses Fox Chase Lane. A tributary of troutbrook stream runs through the area. The area is second growth forest.
