What was it?
Today, at approximately 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015 when I was taking a cardio/nature walk and I was on my return home after feeling a little winded from walking up hill and concerned about getting back home because I started to feel a few rain drops and did not want to get caught in a storm, I quickened my pace again while now walking on flatter terrain, when, lo and behold, I was startled as a large animal about the size of my friend's rather large Labrador Retriever jumped out of the woods, and sprinted across Great Hill Road (Ridgefield, CT) to the other side of the street into the brush area which preceded the more wooded area. I waited for a bit hoping the animal did not see me and hoping he or she continued on deeper into the woods and hoped that the next upcoming speeding car would possibly scare the animal away from me in case he or she was still in the brush. I then tentatively continued my trek home and breathed a sigh of relief when I got home. But I was also in wonderment as to what the animal was and as I described it to my husband that it was tan and had a relatively small head with smallish roundish ears with a very long tail and had short tan fur, my husband said it sounded like a mountain lion. So I searched a bit on the internet when I saw the photos on ctmountainlion.org, and I said, "That's it!" "He" was beautiful, but also unnerving, and I don't know how soon I will be taking another nature walk!
