  1. I believe the town was New Canaan

  2. With nothing to show the size of the prints it’s hard to have any idea if they could be from a Mountain Lion. And like most cases, the chances are it’s a Bobcat. But there are a lot of deer down in that area so there would be plenty off food to keep a Mountain Lion around. But it is a pretty built up area compared to Canaan (NW Ct) and if there is one in the area it will be seen many times in the next few weeks.

A little disappointed that the source of the report was identified as Canaan (5 miles away) rather than where the report actually came from-New Canaan.

    • DEEP went out there and observed the tracks. We have asked them for comment, none thus far. I have corrected the location, its was indeed New Canaan, sorry for the error.

    • While there is nothing in the two photos to compare the size of the prints, I’m thinking the depth of the imprint suggests an animal heavier heavier than a bobcat.

    • One of the track pictures appears to have 2 leading middle toes, hinting canine on that one. The other looks possibly to be a cat, but no size reference. I agree its a pretty deep print for a bobcat. The investigator that went out wouldn’t comment and referred it up to the top for comment. Awaiting a reply.

  3. It’s New Canaan, not Canaan.

    • Correct, we made the correction. Thanks.

      • NY State officials claim it’s a “house cat”. We have done some comparisons and cannot duplicate that finding. Awaiting some additional pictures from the site.

        • Oh because they put a cardboard cutout of a full grown Mt Lion in the spot then all bets are off? News flash Mt Lions grow like other animals they don’t from 2 lbs to 150lbs overnight. The video shows a young MT Lion. They should stop turning a blind eye to this, they are here I’ve seen one and I know what I saw. Remember Mt Lions are native to this area. But I guess they rather wait until someone gets attacked before they admit it. Protect these animals and educate people.

          • Looking at a picture sent to us of a person standing at the the spot their conclusion is suspect

          • The DEC is suspect, they didn’t release the info of the Mt Lion that passed through Lake George before getting hit by a car in CT until after it had been killed. They had confirmed paw prints. Plus the whole conspiracy that they released 11 mt lions in NY state in 2001.
